SJS/TEN Ocular Manifestations – summary bullet points:

  1. Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS) can cause structural and surface changes to the eyes.

  2. These changes may lead to dry eye symptoms, which can be mild to severe.

  3. Work with your optometrist or ophthalmologist to find the best treatments for you, if you have been affected

  4. Treatments may include topical medications, punctal plugs, amniotic membrane tissue, epilations to control lash misdirection, scleral lenses, or surgical intervention.

  5. SJS can cause debilitating ocular symptoms.

  6. In addition to working with your eye care providers, consider joining support groups with others who have also experienced this condition.

  7. Emotional support, in addition to physical support, is extremely important for SJS survivors.
